The Dietitian provides nutritional support to in-center and home dialysis patients and their families to maximize nutritional status and improve clinical outcomes. This role requires familiarity with dialysis and the knowledge, judgment, and skills necessary to care for dialysis patients while ensuring patient rights, privacy, dignity, and safety.
Essential Functions:
Complies with all company, state, federal, OSHA, and regulatory guidelines.
Ensures all patient information is handled discreetly and in compliance with HIPAA.
Communicates professionally with patients, families, physicians, coworkers, and external partners.
Ensures patients receive appropriate renal diet and medication guidance, including coordination with Long Term Care Facilities.
Provides comprehensive nutritional assessments and develops individualized care plans for dialysis patients.
Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field
Completion of an accredited Dietetic Internship
Current Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential
Active state licensure (if required by state)
Knowledge of renal diet guidelines
Ability to maintain HIPAA compliance and handle sensitive patient information
Strong communication skills for interactions with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams
Prior experience working in dialysis or renal care
Experience providing nutritional assessments and care plans for chronic illness populations
Familiarity with dialysis medications, especially those affecting nutritional status
Experience collaborating with Long Term Care Facilities regarding patient dietary needs
Bilingual capabilities for patient communication
Strong organizational skills and comfort managing a patient caseload
