Learn about the history of food policy from food historian and best selling author (Four Pounds Flour) Sarah Lohman. Roosevelt helped create modern food policy and laid the groundwork for the FDA. This talk paints the scene of the sometimes horrific food world at the turn of the 20th century and tells stories behind the somewhat eccentric advocates for change.

For 2024, MDEF will be giving out two MDEF scholarships and one MDEF Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) scholarship to deserving nutrition students, each in the amount of $1500. Please pass along to any nutrition students or interns who may be eligible to apply!
