SEMDA Workshop: Oncology Nutrition for Head and Neck and Colorectal Cancers - A Case Study

Details:
After attending this workshop, attendees will be able to:
1. Identify the main assessment parameters for each of the two cancer diagnoses
2. Understand how nutritional needs vary through the treatment process, and be able to calculate those needs
3. Manage nutritional challenges that arise through radiation and chemotherapy treatment
4. Assist patients in making food decisions to improve likelihood of Survivorship through treatment and following treatment

Speaker: Julie Bosworth, RDN, LDN, Senior Clinical Dietitian, Dana Farber Cancer Institute; President, Julie Bosworth Nutrition Concepts

Julie graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelors in Nutritional Sciences. Before returning to complete her Dietetic Internship at Brigham and Women’s/Harvard, she worked in the Cardiac Chemistry Lab at Massachusetts General Hospital. Following her internship, she worked at Brigham and Women’s in surgery and lung transplantation, which lead to her managing nutrition and nutrition support for solid organ transplantation at University of Maryland Medical System. Most recently, Julie has worked as an outpatient dietitian at the Faulkner Hospital, followed by her most recent position at Dana Farber Cancer, where she has been for the last seven years. When not at the Farber, Julie has a private practice in Hanover.
