MAND IDEA Annual Summer CEU Series - Presentation 1: Redefining Food is Medicine through Food Access, Justice, and Sovereignty

MAND IDEA Presents its Annual Summer CEU Series with this year's theme being "Food as Medicine Through a Multicultural Lens."

Redefining Food is Medicine through Food Access, Justice, and Sovereignty | Olivia Thomas, MS, PhDc, RDN & Rebecca Valdez, RD | Thursday July 18 at 7:00pm EST for 1.25 CEUs.
Economic, political, and social structures heavily impact dietary quality, disproportionately limiting access to nutritious food in marginalized communities, resulting in adverse health outcomes. The national Food is Medicine (FIM) movement seeks to mitigate diet-related disparities by providing services such as medically tailored meals, produce, nutrition education, and culinary medicine.
However, barriers persist in effectively addressing individual and community needs. This webinar will delve into four challenges facing the FIM movement, accompanied by two illustrative program examples to address them and shift the narrative from food access to the broader endeavor of fostering food justice and sovereignty.

Speakers: Olivia Thomas, MS, PhDc, RDN & Rebecca Valdez, RD

The CPE activity application for Redefining Food is Medicine through Food Access, Justice, and Sovereignty is pending CDR review and approval for 1.25 CPEUs.

President's Welcome

Message from Outgoing MAND President, Sangeeta Pradhan

Hello RD and NDTR friends,

As my term as President draws to a close, I am filled with an immense sense of gratitude to be given the incredible honor of serving as your President. I ask for your indulgence as I share a few parting words with you.

Everything about food and nutrition inspires and energizes me. Do you feel the same way? This innocuous entity called food holds the power to transform health, to be a game changer, and to arguably change the course of chronic disease. Which itself is awe-inspiring!

And RDs are uniquely positioned to be stewards of that change!
