Each MSDA term year runs for 12 months (July to July), and provides board members with a number of networking and leadership development opportunities. 

 

Interested in running for a board position? Board Position Descriptions:

President

Responsible for the organization's development and management, including event planning (specifically: 4 yearly member meetings, board meetings as necessary, Yearly Kick-Off Event, Annual Dietetic Internship Workshop, Annual Career Development Workshop, and social events ad lib), evaluation of progress, guidance of members, marketing, facilitating networking opportunities for dietetic students and professionals in the field, establishing relationships with community nutrition organizations, and working in conjunction with the Massachusetts Dietetic Association (MDA).

 

Vice President

Responsible for assisting President with all above duties, in addition to managing the MSDA Promotions Committee members, and contacting and recruiting employer booths for the Annual Career Development Workshop.

 

Secretary

Responsible for taking meeting notes, posting meeting minutes, tracking member attendance at meetings, sending out event reminders, collecting event feedback, organizing registrant information for all events, and assisting fellow board members in various duties.

 

Treasurer

Responsible for tracking finances, budgeting, facilitating the organization's reimbursement, and assisting fellow board members in various duties.

 

Philanthropy Chair

Responsible for organizing team of MSDA and MDA members for participation in Project Bread's annual Walk for Hunger, including advertising, fund collection, and event-day volunteer organization. Event held annually in May.

 

Social Media Chair

Responsible for updating all MSDA media outlets to disseminate upcoming event information, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and the MSDA web page, in addition to writing quarterly MSDA articles for the Today@MDA Newsletter.

 

MSDA Promotions Committee

Responsibilities vary depending on level of time available, and involvement desired. Whether you have 5 minutes, or 5 hours, the MSDA Promotions Committee has a task for you! Email MSDA Vice President, Abigail Lundin, for a detailed list of available tasks. *Note: Paragraph of interest not required for Promotions Committee positions during elections.  Committee recruits year round.*
