The 2008 MDA Nutrition Convention and Exposition was held on March 28th and 29th at the Sturbridge Host Hotel and Conference Center. Over 500 attendees came together from various areas of the state to learn, share and network.
MDA was fortunate to secure two nationally recognized speakers; David Katz, MD and Dave Grotto, RD, LDN. Dr. Katz gave an excellent keynote address on the Overall Nutrition Quality Index (ONQI). Mr. Grotto reminded us of the importance of laughter not only in our own lives, but also in the lives of our patients and clients. He literally had the attendees in stitches!
Concurrent session topics ranged from topics addressing clinical nutrition, community nutrition, counseling techniques and reimbursement. The majority of speakers provided high quality presentations with new information in various nutrition disciplines for our attendees.
In addition to the quality education programs, the attendees had opportunities to visit the exhibitor area and speak directly with forty vendors. Additionally, ten poster authors presented their original work and were able to network with colleagues during breaks and meals.
On Friday night, attendees either attended the MDA Awards Reception or opted for an educational Wine & Chocolate Tasting. Some of our attendees even got up extra early to start their day with some exercise on Saturday and participated in a Pilates class.
Although this was not one of our best attended MDA conventions, considering we have over 1900 members, it was one of the most positively received conventions based on the evaluations from our members who attended.

2007
In 2007, Massachusetts Dietetic Association resumed the once per year 2-day convention format. The convention was held in the spring in Marlborough, Massachusetts. Review the flyer to see highlights from this very successful 2-day event held on April 30th and May 1st 2007.
