MDA Mentoring assists dietetic professionals and students throughout their careers, offering individuals the opportunity to network, achieve career changes, gain knowledge and grow from others' experiences. Both mentors and mentees may apply for the Mentor Program, and members of all ages and backgrounds are welcome to participate as a mentor or mentee. Everyone benefits from someone else's experience.
[NOTE: You must be a MDA/ADA member to take advantage of mentoring.]
Mentoring allows experienced MDA members to share what they have learned along the way. Benefits of the program include:
- Networking creates new opportunities for career growth
- Mentees learn to set and achieve goals
- Improved chances for success and increased productivity for mentees
- Enhanced confidence to try something new
The MDA Mentoring Program is an email-based program. Our mentoring coordinator will pair a mentor with a mentee based on the information provided in their applications. Any RD/DTR can be a mentee or a mentor – from mentors with years of experience to new grads who can help those just starting in their studies.
Goals for mentors:
1. Strengthen our profession by sharing and building knowledge
2. Network with other professionals
3. Gain personal gratification
4. Improve job pool
5. Assist others to strengthen their job qualifications
6. Support your professional association and enhance the benefits of membership in ADA/MDA
